Logo Investigation

Image
Columbia Pictures Columbia Pictures is an American film production studio that is an association with Sony pictures entertainment. In the year of 1924, Columbia Pictures used a logo incorporating a female Roman soldier holding a shield in her left hand and a stick of wheat in her right hand.  1924 Before the film studio was named Columbia Pictures it was named CBC films, it stood for Cohn Brothers and Joe Brandt (The people who founded the company) The company was renamed in 1924 and then first Columbia Pictures logo was born.  In 1925 the logo was simplified and modernized by creating a black background and making the female soldiers stance more powerful and confident. Instead of an oval shape for the logo Columbia pictures undertook a more circular approach  The logo was redesigned in 1932 and this time Columbia Pictures decided to incorporate color to the logo. Greys Anatomy Representative Essay

Greys Anatomy Representative Essay  From the very beginning of this clip, we can very clearly see this is a medical drama, through the use of the building the actors are in and the outfits they are wearing. A very big clue from the very start is that the man guarding the door against any males entering in is wearing a stethoscope, this immediately tells watchers that this is set in a hospital which plainly gives away that this is a hospital drama. The use of language used by the man guarding the door saying “Sir” tells viewers that this is not a relaxed environment but an environment where a level of respect and mature language must be maintained. When the woman is allowed in the room but the man is not, it strikes a level of intrigue into the watcher as we want to know why this doctor was stopped from going into the room and by the small smirk on the man’s face at the door we can start to come up with ideas that there is something noble happening behind the scenes that we yet do n...

Opening Sequences pt 2

Image
How is the sequence engaging and how does it conform to traditional Thriller codes and conventions? The three thriller openings I have chosen are The Batman (2022), Get out (2017), and Shutter island (2010)  The Batman opener is an opener that brings a viewer's attention to a specific point very easily, this is done very cleverly due to the use of binoculars. The binoculars also help to restrict the view of the watcher, which may build up a feeling of anxiety as they can not see the full picture but are restricted to what Batman can see.  The Pov if shot is very clever as watchers feel as they are Batman and as this is the opener they do n't know yet what the focus is supposed to be on or what is happening at this point in time. The close-up breathing effect really captivates watchers as this again makes watchers feel as if they are in the Batman mask and as there is not a focus on other sounds at this point the focus on breathing can make viewers feel uncomfortable. The breat...
